Weeds appear on a soil surface before shoots of vegetable plants and shade them, deprive some water and nutrients. Depth of cultivations depends on features of development of a root system of plants. Root systems of:
- Carrot, beet, onion extend more deep. Therefore, the first cultivation should not deep. And the subsequent cultivations - deeper.
- Cabbage, tomato, cucumber settle down in the top layer of soil. They quickly expand in the sides. At cultivation of these cultures depth of cultivation each time is reduced.
It is necessary to cultivate soil after rain or heavy irrigation as soon as the soil slightly will dry up.
